Curriculum

We are committed to providing our pupils with a range of vibrant and memorable experiences and are proud of the curriculum we offer them.

In this section we outline our curriculum overviews for each year group and include specific subject information - including Intent Statements and Key Stage Progression Documents.

Our Vision

Our ethos, ‘Love Learning, Love Life’ enables Hampton Hill Junior School to provide the best start in life for all, through an engaging, meaningful, memorable and inclusive curriculum where curiosity is sparked, ambition is nurtured, and every child experiences happiness and a sense of belonging. Our school aims to inspire and empower children to become confident, courageous, life-long learners who value togetherness and support one another's well-being.

Our Curriculum Principles

Our curriculum develops knowledge and skills as well as attitudes and values. This approach is designed to develop a love of learning, enabling our children to grow into successful individuals in the community.

Our curriculum…

…is carefully sequenced so that all children build their knowledge and skills as they progress through the   school.

…is broad and balanced, ensuring the widest possible range of opportunities across all subject areas.

…is inclusive, helping all children to overcome barriers.

…provides hands-on, multi-sensory experiences that bring learning to life.

…explores language, focusing on rich vocabulary, discussion and oracy so that all children feel able to express themselves.

Our Values and Expectations

We expect everyone in our school to develop a sense of social responsibility, both individually and together. By promoting the values of democracy, law, liberty, respect and tolerance, we prepare children for life in modern Britain and the wider world.

Collaborating with parents, carers and other agencies, we understand each individual pupil and ensure their personal needs are met. Our staff are able to adapt teaching to suit all children, while maintaining very high standards and covering a broad, balanced curriculum.

Our Commitment

Children come first: everything we do is designed for their learning, enjoyment and success.

We challenge our children to be ambitious learners who strive for excellence and achievement across all aspects of school life. We are committed to developing a love of reading, recognising its central importance to children's future life chances. We understand the increasing complexities of our ever-changing world and strive to develop resilience, creativity and problem-solving skills so that children leave us with secure foundations and the courage to make a difference.

Through togetherness, mutual respect and a focus on individual needs, we ensure that every child experiences happiness and develops the ambition to become successful members of our community. Our goal is to enrich their lives both now and in the future.

FORCES Principles

Teaching and learning in the Carlisle and Hampton Hill Federation is underpinned by six key principles (known with the acronym: FORCES) that are integrated into daily practice to enhance its quality and to have a positive impact on all children, supporting them to learn well and thrive.

These research-based principles enable each individual to flourish; developing learners who can demonstrate our values of: Happiness, Belonging, Curiosity, Courage, Confidence, Ambition and Togetherness
